Happy Anniversary!
Our first store in the Middle East celebrated it’s 1st anniversary in February this year. The arrival of this significant anniversary prompted us to reminisce over the opening ceremony when The British Ambassador to Kuwait, Frank Baker, unveiled the opening of our store at The Avenues Mall, Phase III. The launch party was a huge success and saw delegates rubbing shoulders with VIP’s as over 150 guests turned out on the night to raise their glasses and toast the store’s launch.
Opening in Kuwait marked a real milestone for us as The East India Company once again, as we expanded to embrace global trading relations. A less well known fact is that history has it that The State of Kuwait and the United Kingdom are old friends, since a ship from the British East India Company unloaded in Kuwait in 1775, the countries and the families, have shared a long and close history. Twenty years after the Special Treaty of Friendship was concluded in 1899, King George V welcomed the late Sheikh Ahmad Al Jaber as the first official Kuwaiti visitor to Britain. We are proud to share in this piece of history.
